The design and build construction of a new Builders Merchants Depot for Selco, consisting of a 33,000ft2 warehouse and sales area, combined with a storage yard /sales yard area, van parking bays throughout the front car park, with all associated external works, drainage and landscaping.

In line with our green credentials, the planning authorities “low energy requirements” and our client’s commitment to the environment the building was designed to the highest insulation levels, very low air leakage requirements combined with low water and electricity consumption.

The yard areas are a combination of tarmac and concrete drained through a series of line drain channels. The surface water SUDS was achieved by using the very latest crate attenuation technology, designed and supplied with flow control devices which store and control the water discharge off of the site.

The construction of this unit is on a series of traditional and cantilever pad foundations spanning the main drainage sewers to support a steel framed structure. The highly insulated composite cladding achieves a 1-hour fire resistance for both insulation and integrity, with curtain walling, sectional overhead doors and steel fire exits.

Extensive new services will be installed to the adjacent buildings to facilitate the redevelopment of this brown field site. External lighting and security fencing were all added to the high security requirements for this new sales facility.
