A design and build contract comprising of the construction of a 15,000ft2 office, training & demonstration facility to create “The Blum Experience”.
The external elevations have been comprehensively amended to include new structural glass display areas and motorised Brise Soleil. These have been installed to feature glazing elements to afford controllable solar shading and new Eternit boarding detail panels have been used to accentuate key building features.
Internally the new training and display areas feature specialist structural glass walls which at the flick of a switch act as media walls. Exposed soffits with floating lighting rafts form the ceilings and all services are expressed as features. The highest quality fitting out materials are specified on this contract from the accessible tiled floors throughout and glass toilet cubicles to floating glass bridges and walkways transitioning across the full height atrium which sits below a new glazed roof light.
Externally new car parking and drop off facilities have been installed together with sweeping Camomile lawns, granite feature paving and a reflection pool.
All of the works were undertaken in a series of phases whilst the client continued to operate their business “as usual”. Detailed programming together with close co-ordination between the clients building management team ensured that all interfacing and overlapping ran as smoothly as possible.
