A true design & build project, this 10,000ft2 extension to the existing Technology block was on site in less than 8 months. We entered into negotiations with the schools business manager, agreed the scope of works, budgets and were then instructed to appoint the design team, produce detailed drawings and submit for planning.

Extensive ground modelling works were required to prepare this site for the construction - all of the arisings were used to construct a noise attenuation bund around the schools existing MUGA sports pitches. Advanced works included services diversions and adoptions to the escape routes to maintain the everyday function of the existing school.

The construction was a mixture of steel frame and traditional masonry structures combined with a built-up clad roof and high-performance windows. Internal finishes are of the highest order, including hardwood doors, stainless steel ironmongery, acoustic partitions and sliding folding doors, natural passive ventilation, sub-metered electricity supplies, food technology kitchens, textile classrooms, along with quality vinyl and carpets throughout.

Externally the surface water is disposed through a SUDS soak away system and the environmental impact of these works was improved by including diverse, native landscape planting.
